Journey into API Documentation
What learning API documentation taught me about developer experience.
API documentation is an interface. It has the same job as any product surface: help someone reach a meaningful outcome with confidence and as little unnecessary effort as possible.
Learning this craft made me pay more attention to the path between a first question and a successful request. Examples have to be copyable. References need a clear hierarchy. Errors should lead back to a solution rather than a dead end.
That same sensitivity carries into frontend work. Whether I am building a dashboard or a developer portal, I look for the moment a person could hesitate and design the next step to be clear.
